All dogs need a canine buddy, so if you are already the proud owner of one pup, add another to your family to keep your baby occupied during the long days you are at work. Maybe you need some motivation to really keep up an exercise routine this year. There is NOTHING more motivating than an eager dog who excitedly prances about as you get ready to take him on a daily walk or jog. So come on in now as we have some treasures just waiting to be found. Who needs to go to the end of a rainbow to find gold? We have cages full of gems right here at our shelter!

Athenspets.net is updated with current pictures twice per week and updated status reports of each dog every other day or so. We keep it as current as we can, but there are times when you may see a dog featured here who may not still be available. Call Animal Control if you have questions about a dog.

This is not an official web site of Athens-Clarke County. It is, however, a website maintained by a few concerned citizens who want to do anything we can to give these dogs a fair chance at life! There are so many incredible dogs that come to this shelter just waiting for a human angel. The sad thing is, most of these dogs never meet that special person. Due to such a high overpopulation problem, dogs at shelters are only allotted a short amount of time before they are euthanized to make room for more. Everyone needs that special little companion. Please, when viewing these pictures, open up your mind and your heart, and let these little angels in!
