54560 – Whopper
Update 11/30: Whopper has come so far! He was happy to walk with me to an interaction pen today, and when he got there he was sitting for treats, playing with toys, and enjoying pets. He even showed Zena his toy and then ran with her along the fence. It was good watching him have fun!
Whopper is a handsome fellow who’s trying to figure things out at the pound. He’s scared. He was already in an interaction pen when I joined him, but he wasn’t too sure about that. Eventually, he felt safe enough to come closer peaking around the table, but he wasn’t ready for pets. Another volunteer has been spending time with Whopper and said he comes to him, takes treats, and walks well on a leash. He even climbed onto his lap. That’s good news, and I hope Whopper eventually sees others as friends, too. Until he does, he’s only available to rescues. His former owners said Whopper lived with children ages 3, 8, and 13 and did well with them. They also said he’s fearful of strangers. Hopefully, Whopper will soon feel more secure and show what a sweet dog he is.
