54506 – Duchess
Why choose me? Update 11/16: A week ago Duchess didn’t know how she felt about other dogs. She wasn’t aggressive, she just didn’t know how to play without getting in their personal space. However, this morning I had a proud foster mom moment because Duchess became a dog-friendly dog! She listened to corrections and watched other dogs interact and learned from them. I’m so excited to add to her list of attributes that she is: -dog friendly!!! (w/ males and females) Update from Duchess’s foster 11/11: One afternoon and I’m already in love with this old lady. She was at the shelter for only a week before I got her and the loud environment was definitely not her cup of tea. The few things I’ve learned about her thus far: -She’s okay with taking baths especially when there is peanut butter involved! Post bath zoomies are also a personality trait😂 -So far, no accidents so hopefully housetrained! -Big cuddler! But don’t get her wrong, the dog bed is also a huge game changer! -Walks well on the leash! -Loves people! Duchess hasn’t lived a life of royalty as her name would imply. She’s missing some hair on her tail and has a few raw places on her legs. Her owner moved away and left her behind, so she was understandably terrified when she was surrendered to the pound. Still, Duchess wants to be loved and has bonded with a supervisor and caretaker. She’s also beginning to meet new friends. Once she feels safe, she likes staying close and will also sit for treats. She’s a sweet girl who needs some TLC and a chance to be treated like a duchess! If you are interested in fostering, adopting, or rescuing Duchess, call 706-613-3540 to discuss options with staff.
