54502 – Ace
Update 1/27: Ace recently had his first foster experience and was described as a total lovebug with people in the home. Here’s what his fosters had to say:
Hello, I found Ace to be very smart and strong-willed..that’s another word for stubborn 🙂
My roommate and I introduced him to the crate right away and he did very well. A tip I learned: To make him realize the crate was a good thing, I would randomly put treats in it with the door open so he would associate it with good experiences. This was crucial since he did a have a couple accidents in the house. After a few days of getting treats after going to the bathroom outside, he would automatically look for my hand for his reward. All that to say, he is very treat motivated.
He LOVES peanut butter in a Kong and I made it his crate treat only. After a few days, I could just let him sniff the peanut butter kong and he would run and get in his crate.
Good news, he didn’t chew on anything he shouldn’t (shoes, rugs, furniture).
On walks, he could pull like crazy or just walk normally…it varied. He’s reactive to other dogs, so walking away from the situation was the best option. He is quite strong and can be somewhat hard to control.
Inside, he learned commands very easy. We worked on “heel” and “down” as he already knew “sit” and he picks up pretty fast. He is a love bug of a dog and is super sweet.
Ace is such a handsome boy! He gets super excited to leave his kennel and then he just wants to explore! He has a sweet personality, and when he wags his tail his whole body wiggles. So cute! If you sit with him for a while, he will come up to you for all the love he can get. With a little leash training, Ace would be a great hiking or running buddy for sure! Do you have room in your house/heart for this sweet boy?
