54448 – Dante
Dante is the sweetest boy. At first, he seemed a little sad, and then I learned he had been surrendered, so I imagine he was missing his family. They said he was a good dog and did well with kids of all ages. He lived with cats, rabbits, and other dogs. I found Dante to be obedient. He’d sit for treats and offer his paw to shake. When he was ready for a treat, he’d also hold out his paw as though asking for it politely. Dante is pretty even keel. The only times he got excited were when I threw a toy, and he chased it and then zoomed around the pen a lap and when I took out a tennis ball. His favorite game was trying to catch the ball in the air or on a bounce. He wasn’t always successful, but he gave it his all. I really like Dante, and it made me happy to see his little nub of a tail wag. He’s a sweetie, and I hope he finds a forever home. Since he has heartworms, he’s only available to rescues or a foster-to-adopt.
While Athenspets & ACCAS will help with the cost of treatment, a rescue should be prepared for some added expense and the exercise restrictions of treatment. To learn more about preventing and treating heartworms, please go to the American Heartworm Society’s website.
