53888 – Tony
Medical Case – Heartworms 🙁
Why choose me? Update 9/25: Today I took Tony out for a little bit for a doggy day out to give him a break from the shelter. He was shy at first especially around my husband and son. He eventually warmed up to them especially after they sat on the floor and gave him some treats. Tony loved my daughter and wanted to sit in her lap. We went out to Normaltown Brewery for a little bit where we walked around and he found every mud puddle to play in. He loves to play in the mud. After that we went back to the house where he took a little nap after exploring his surroundings. Tony is a great dog that takes a little bit for him to warm up to. He did get car sick, but otherwise he rode perfectly and loves the windows down so he can stick his nose out. Update: Tony has tested positive for heartworms. While ACCAS/Athenspets will do our best to cover at least most of the cost of his treatment, an adopter or rescue needs to be prepared to deal with the exercise restrictions of treatment and some added cost. To learn more about heartworms, including how to prevent and treat them, please go to the American Heartworm Society’s webpage. Update: Pedro’s real name is Tony and he is now surrendered by his owners so we’re updating his posting. Tony is definitely Mr. Friendly. He greeted me wagging his tail and happy for pets. He liked the puppies in the pen next to us and was later thrilled to see his pal Frost whom he’d come in with. Frost was reclaimed today, and I’m sure Tony would love to be in a home, too. He’s a handsome, good-natured dog who never meets a stranger! To meet Tony or learn more about adopting or rescuing him, please contact the shelter at 706-613-3540.
