53713 – Delilah
Update 9/21: I cannot comprehend why this joy of a dog has been waiting for a home at Athens Clarke County Animal Services since June?!? She is a perfect girl! She’s an angel on car rides, and on outings, she stays right by her human’s side. She’s a lover! She loves hugs and enjoys using her paw to hug you back! She’ll make you laugh and feel loved. She is such a good-natured dog who simply just gets ignored time and time again. 😞 If you’ve been looking for a soulmate pup, one who will be able to read you and know exactly how you’re feeling in the moment, sweet Delilah is your girl.
Update 9/7: I love this chunky girl! She’s sweet and mellow, happy to lounge around or trot by my side. She sniffs other dogs politely then moves on unless they’re rude to her, in which case she will let them know their manners need some work. She does have a prey drive, so she’d do best in a home with cats or small dogs. I hope this wonderful pup finds a foster or forever home soon!
Update from Delilah’s Doggie-Day-Out 8/22: I had the pleasure of taking this beautiful girl, Delilah, on a doggie day out to give her a break from her stay at the Athens-Clarke County Animal Services shelter! We spent an hour at Sandy Creek Park and Lake Chapman in our own 2 acre dog park! Even with all that room to run around, this low key girl stayed by my side at all times. If I was sitting, she was lying right there with me. If I was walking the perimeter, she was naturally heeling alongside me. In a home, she would be more of a couch potato than an exercise motivator! She wouldn’t require much of you other than some snuggles here and there. She is a gentle soul who enjoys car rides. It would be easy to forget she was in the backseat because she’s so quiet and comfortable in a car. She rarely barks or gets feisty. At this time, we think she would do better in a home as an only dog, though she may co-exist just fine with a submissive dog.
Delilah is the sweetest girl, with a very gentle, calm energy in the kennel. She mostly rested her head on my leg and wanted to be petted. She wasn’t very interested in toys or even treats, but enjoyed being brushed.
