53450 – Gilbert
Why choose me? Update from Gilbert’s Doggie Day Out 7/30: I enjoyed a lunch date on my lunch break with this hunk of a guy, Gilbert! 😍 He was a perfect, calm car rider. He had a great time in his own private dog park at Sandy Creek Park. Once we got to the park, he was so excited to explore and smell everything around him. But nothing was more exciting than the tennis ball that he’s content to chase and then carry around with him! Gilbert is a big boy, but he tries so hard to be good. He never once jumped on me, even when he was excited about going on his adventure! He can sit on command and loves other dogs. After his initial burst of excitement, he’s a polite leash walker too! Poor Gilbert has been at the shelter since April and has had no foster breaks or anything until our short lunch date today. Please consider fostering this boy if you can! His tail-thumping happiness is contagious! 😍 Ah, Gilbert. This big lug has been at the shelter for 2 months without a foster break and I don’t know why–he’s a happy, friendly boy who loves being with people, but he also waits quietly in his kennel until it’s his turn to get out. He’s strong and still learning manners, but he’s very responsive and wants to do what his people ask of him–he just needs consistency and guidance. With just a bit of polishing he’ll make someone a great and handsome companion! The shelter is closed to the public, so volunteers are unable to write stories about new dogs at this time. If you are interested in fostering, adopting, or rescuing Gilbert, call 706-613-3540 to discuss options with staff.
