52998 – Penelope
Why choose me?
Have you ever seen happy, skipping lambs? That’s what is was like watching Penelope today as she ran about the interaction pen. She was so full of joy that she couldn’t help but add leaps and bounces to her gait as she enjoyed some playtime.
It doesn’t sound like Penelope has had the best life. She’s always been a yard dog through all kinds of weather. She doesn’t know what it’s like to be in a warm home surrounded by people who love you. She’s also deaf and hasn’t been taught how to come, sit, or walk on a leash. I believe she can learn. She did actually walk on a leash for me today though I had to stop to comfort and encourage her a few times. She loved watching Hennessey playing with a toy in the adjoining pen but didn’t understand when Hennessey wanted her to join her in a racing game.
When leashed, Penelope enjoyed pets and scratches, but off leash, she preferred running about the pen having fun. It would probably be a good idea to leave a leash on her until she understands the routine of having playtime and then going back to her kennel. Penelope will be learning lots of new things, and I hope she finds a family who’ll love her and show her how good life can be. She’s a sweet, happy dog who deserves that.
