52849 – Lightning McQueen
Why choose me?
Update 12/7: Unfortunately, Lightning McQueen has tested positive for heartworms. While Athenspets will help with the cost of treatment, an adopter or rescue should be prepared for the added cost and exercise restrictions of a treating heartworm positive dog. To learn more about heartworms, including how to prevent and treat them, please go to the American Heartworm Society’s webpage.
Update 12/4: We have an update from the people that kept Lightning McQueen for two nights before bringing her to the pound. She’s crate and house trained and good with other dogs but chased cats. She loves to cuddle and has a pretty mild energy level. She’s a wonderful dog waiting for her forever home!
This sweet girl was found on Thanksgiving Day, but she wasn’t after a turkey; she was running in a 5k race! The human runners picked up their pace a bit and were able to catch her. Then, a kind sheriff took her to his house for a few days since the shelter was closed for the holiday. For this reason, we named her Lightning McQueen. The name fits her too since she has a distinct white stripe on her nose. She seems to be house- trained since her kennel was clean and she did all her business in the run. She was polite on the leash, took treats gently from our hands, and was great with my 9-year-old son. LM has this unique texture of fur which is soft yet spikes up a bit, giving her a lot of character, not to mention her striking amber eyes! What a beauty. If you’re looking for an easygoing girl who is also up for a run, Lightning McQueen might be the one for you.
