52508 – Lou
Medical Case – Heartworms 🙁
Update from Lou’s foster 11/19: “Bringing home Lou as my first foster dog was like winning the lottery. Despite the rough shape he was in from what has clearly been a past of neglect, he is the happiest, most easy-going boy. He is crate trained, house trained, walks well on a leash, does well in the car, isn’t afraid of loud noises, doesn’t bark much, and even does well with my cat. He can be unsure of other dogs at first, but generally does fine after he’s given time to acclimate and a big open space to meet them in. He LOVES eating, cuddling, going on walks, chasing tennis balls, chewing on his toys, and sitting in the sun- but mostly eating. He will be your shadow and your most faithful companion. I love him so much and want nothing more than for him to find the amazing forever home he deserves!”
Update 11/2: Lou is in a shelter foster home! To meet this GREAT guy, please call 706-613-3540.
Update 10/24: Thanks to donations to the Spay/Neuter Fund, Lou is now neutered!
Update 10/22: Unfortunately, Lou has tested positive for heartworms. While Athenspets will try to help with the cost of treatment, an adopter or rescue needs to be prepared to cover at least some of the expense. For more information about heartworms, including what treating them involves, please go to the American Heartworm Society’s webpage.
Oh, Lou! For a stinky, spiny, underweight pup, you sure are cute! From your big smile to the hint of brindling that promises to be beautiful with some care, you’re definitely a diamond in the rough. While Lou was more interested in sniffing around and flirting with Rosie than hanging out with me, as soon as a worker he knew entered the pen, he ran over for some cuddle time. Lou loves treats and showed me that he knew how to ask for them politely. He deserves a life with a happy family that will give him the love that he sooooo deserves.
