Why choose me? Update 12/29: This boy is an absolute joy! He happily sits and lies down on command for a treat. He has a perfect energy level for any type of home. He’s been here way too long. Change your life and Frankie’s in 2020 and bring him home! You’ll never regret rescuing this incredible boy! Update 12/29: Frankie has completed his treatment for heartworms and is off crate rest. He will need to be kept on heartworm preventative for life, but that’s no different than any other dog. He’s a great pup and is ready to find his forever home! Update 11/23: Frankie has received the shots he needs to kill his heartworms and will be recovering on crate rest for the next month in his temporary foster home . Please wish him well and share this post to help him find a forever home! To learn more about him or fostering another needy animal, please call the shelter at 706-613-3540 and ask to speak to Nicollette! Update from Frankie’s Doggie-Day-Out 11/11: I just went on a 3.5 mile walk with Frankie! He is AMAZING! We encountered joggers, fireworks, traffic, walkers, and even barking dogs and he was AN ANGEL! Never a peep or bark the entire time and he was great leashed! Update 9/8: Unfortunately, Frankie has tested positive for heartworms. While Athenspets will try to help with the cost of treatment, an adopter or rescue needs to be prepared to cover at least some of the expense. For more information about heartworms, including what treating them involves, please go to the American Heartworm Society’s webpage. Frankie and Valli came in together and are the best of friends. If one came to me for a treat or pet, the other was right there. When Frankie took a spin around the interaction pen, Valli followed. They love each other, and I couldn’t help but think of that old song, “I only have eyes for you . . .” But, that’s not totally true because they gave me their attention as well–together! Frankie and Valli are nice, well-behaved dogs. While it’s best to have help walking them to and from their kennel (they share), I was able to walk them together. They were that good for me. I hope this sweet pair are reclaimed, but if not they’ll need new homes. They don’t have to be adopted together, but if you’re looking for two good-natured dogs who already get along beautifully, Frankie and Valli are perfect and no worries–they’ll have eyes for you, too!
