Why choose me?

Update 11/11: While Joey’s foster parents thought he was great, they are gone too much to get him accustomed to a crate. He needs someone home a bit more to help him get accustomed to being alone at times–it can be a hard transition for a pup who has been abandoned before 🙁

Update 10/20: Joey is ADORED in his foster home and is doing so well. He’s been such a good boy in his crate, loves going on walks, and actually likes getting dressed for the chilly days we’ve had!

Update from Joey’s temporary foster 10/1: Joey doesn’t show well in his kennel at the pound. Once you get him beyond all the noise and commotion, he shows what a special and wonderful dog he is. Here’s what his temporary foster has to say:
“This truly is a good dog. Quiet not afraid of people and not aggressive toward anything. There were working men at my house 10 feet from him for 2 days and they never heard a peep. A+ pet. No accidents in the house. This is his fourth visit to my home. He is always very friendly and loves to go on walks getting better on the leash all the time, heals and sits on command, and wants to please. Joey does not chase other dogs. I highly recommend Joey as a lovely addition to a family. He is also good in cars.”Joey’s Doggie-Day-Out Update 9/29: Joey did really great. Walks well on a leash and at a good pace. He is a gentle quiet pup. Enjoys pets and ear rubs and of course treats that he takes gently.Update 9/3: Thanks to donations to the Spay/Neuter Fund, Joey is neutered and up-to-date on his basic vaccinations!

Update 8/6: I love being with Joey! He is the sweetest boy who appreciates every bit of attention you give him. When he watches me near his kennel, his eyes widen and his face lights up. He’s just so happy to be with a friend. Joey likes to please and quickly sits for treats. He was also so patient as I dressed him in a shirt. I think he enjoyed it and felt special. Well, he is special, and I hope someone discovers that soon and gives sweet Joey a wonderful home!

Joey is a joy to be around. He has a friendly personality that will win your heart quickly. When he first came to the shelter he was a little scared, but he didn’t act that way at all when he was in the interaction pen. He loved to run with the dog in the next pen and was eating treats out of my hand by the end of the visit. He is a sweet boy deserving of a good home.
