51375 – Titan
Medical Case – Heartworms 🙁
Why choose me?
Update: We’ve got some good news and bad news on Titan. The good news is that he’s a friendly guy who is now neutered. Moreover, two of his masses reduced in size with prednisone, so they’re nothing to worry about. Importantly, his heartworm disease is not very advanced–only stage 2–so he’s a great candidate for treatment. Yay! Unfortunately, the mass on his side is an atypical mast cell tumor. While it’s been mostly removed, it needs more tissue taken out and, because it’s in the muscle, it’s not something we can do while he is at the shelter. However, there is no metastisis evident in the x-rays so his prognosis is great! Anyone up for adopting or fostering this boy?
Update 5/13: Thanks to donations to the Spay/Neuter Fund, Titan is neutered and up-to-date on his basic vaccinations!
What’s the best way to keep cool on a hot day? Why, stand in a kiddie pool! Titan would do a little exploring and sit with me for a time under my umbrella, but he always found his way to the water for a little pool time. Then he’d come to me for a few treats, some pets, and a lot of scratches along his back. He was enjoying some fun in the sun. Titan hit it off with Misty at the fence, but he wasn’t too sure about males. Of course, being at the pound was all new for him. Titan is nine years old and has a few tumors which don’t seem to bother him. His former owner said he’s good with kids and was an outside dog. Unfortunately, he’s heartworm positive and not available for adoption until he is neutered. He was sweet with me, and it doesn’t seem to take much to make him happy–just some scratches, kind words, a few treats, and a kiddie pool for hot days!
