Medical Case – Heartworms
Why choose me?
Update 4/17: Unfortunately, Bruno has tested positive for heartworms. To learn about heartworms, including how to treat them, please go to the American Heartworm Society‘s webpage. For information about the cost of treatment, please speak with your veterinarian. While Athenspets helps with the cost of treatment when we can, an adopter needs to be prepared to pay for at least some of the cost and for enforcing the exercise restrictions it entails.
Bruno is one big, handsome dog! You really can’t appreciate his size until you meet him in person–all 101 pounds! I couldn’t believe that Bruno is seven years old. He’s a boy on the move and loves to run and chase toys. Sometimes, he’d bring them back and other times the fun was in the chase. With all that running, Bruno was in search of some shade on this hot day. I guess he didn’t want to try getting under the picnic table and found a tiny patch in the back corner. I asked him if he was ready to go, and he ran to the gate. Hold on to the leash because Bruno is strong. Bruno’s former owner said he’s house trained but has had a few mistakes. He’s never been around other dogs which I could see in the interaction pen. He didn’t like being next to an unaltered male but became comfortable with a friendly female and was good with a puppy. Suddenly finding himself surrounded by other dogs and lots of barking would be an adjustment. Bruno was always friendly with me and enjoyed some pets and scratches when he wasn’t running. Bruno is a good dog and will hopefully find a home where he can continue to run, play, and enjoy life!
