Why choose me?

Update 1/14: A dedicated volunteer has been helping Jack Sparrow feel more comfortable at the pound, and he has really come out of his shell! He loves leaving his kennel to be with new friends and meet other dogs at the fence in interaction pens. He really seems to like other dogs and is so cute wagging his tail as he trots along the fence line with them. Something else Jack Sparrow likes are treats! He’s happily runs to you, hops up on the picnic table, and sits for tasty morsels. It’s great seeing Jack Sparrow having a good time and enjoying pets. Instead of ducking his head, he’s lifting it for every pet and scratch you want to give him. He’s a sweet, adorable little guy waiting to be someone’s best friend!

Update 1/15: Unfortunately, Jack Sparrow has tested positive for heartworms ๐Ÿ™ While Athenspets can help with the cost of treatment, an adopter would need to be prepared for the higher cost and exercise restrictions for 1-2 months for a dog undergoing heartworm treatment. To learn more about heartworms and the treatment process, please go to the American Heartworm Society’s webpage.

Jack Sparrow is a cool little dude! He is very timid because of the shelter environment, but I can tell he is itching to break out of his shell! He likes to just sit and hang out when in the interaction pen, but he loves being held! Once you scoop him up, you can feel him relax and lean in! I canโ€™t wait to see Jack get a little more comfortable!
