Why choose me?

Update 1/6: Hardy has an old break in his leg that causes him to limp. He’s on rest for a few weeks to let it heal as much as possible, but there’s really nothing to do about it–while he’ll always have an odd gait, once it’s fully healed it shouldn’t cause him pain and he uses it for balance so there’s no reason to amputate. He’s a handsome and friendly pup–if you’re up for a 3 1/2 legger, come meet Hardy!

Hardy is a friendly dog who looks like he’s endured some hardships in his life. He has some old scars and runs with a limp. We don’t know what’s going on with his leg, but thanks to donations to Athenspets Medical Fund, he’ll be going to the vet for a check up. No matter what Hardy has faced, he happily ran from the back of his kennel to see me, and I could tell he was hoping he’d have a chance to go to an interaction pen. Like most dogs, he liked being outside, and he also really liked being petted and sitting for treats. Hardy was getting around fine and not acting like he was in any pain. When Captain entered the pen next to us, both boys were friendly, and Captain wanted Hardy to run with him. He was happy to oblige, but I had to curtail their fun until we know more about Hardy’s leg. Although he missed running with a new friend, he enjoyed some more attention from me. I hope Hardy has a chance to run, play, and enjoy a better life with someone who’ll love him and look out for him!
