50525 – Tank
Why choose me?
Update from Tank’s advocate 1/24: Meet Tank (don’t let the name fool you, he is a soft sweetie), he often gets overlooked because he is in the very last pen at the Athens shelter. It’s hard to walk past 30 adorable dogs that all want attention, I know I have to make at least a dozen stops to say hey and give treats on the way to him.
I’ve been excited about taking him out for a day trip, today was the day and it was all about him. We started with a bath which is something he actually enjoys. We walked around Lowe’s and did great interacting with everyone. Then we went to Sandy creek and walked as far as we could but all this rain flooded the trail so we had to turn around but he had such a great time. He does need to work on his leash pulling but he is very smart and we will start working on it. He can sit and shake for treats and is very gentle. He also loves Zaxby chicken strips and was very happy laying next to me on the sofa after lunch. Before returning to the shelter we went by Petsense Athens GA where he was excellent! He picked out some treats and got his picture taken by the staff.
Update 1/2: Happy 2019! What better way to start out the year than with a new friend, like this guy. Tank is very sweet and gentle not to mention smart. He can sit, shake and lay down, and he is house broken. He would love to snuggle up on the sofa next to you and he has really enjoyed the holiday leftovers. Come check him out!
Update 12/15: Today a family and their dogs came to meet Tank (along with a few of our other residents!). We are glad to share that Tank did great with each of the dogs including a large male bully mix and two small dogs!
It was a dreary day, but that didn’t keep Tank from meeting a new friend and having a good time in the interaction pen. I’d seen Tank when he was surrendered. He was wagging his tail happy to be with his people, and I remember thinking, “What a handsome dog!” He had fun chasing squeaky toys, playing fetch (as long as you have two balls!), and running with Zelda at the fence. His former owners said Tank hasn’t been around other dogs, but he and Zelda seemed to hit it off. They also said he’s good with kids, house trained, and already neutered. Tank is a good boy who’s waiting to meet other new friends and hoping to find a new forever home!
