The image of cold dogs, lying on a hard, often wet cement floor paints a bleak picture of life in an animal shelter. That is why the Kuranda Dog Bed Company created a Donate a Bed Program to help provide dogs in shelters across the country with comfortable raised beds where they can relax during the time they are in the shelter. If you would like to help a shelter dog by providing a warm, dry, comfortable off the floor bed, just visit www.kuranda.com and click on “Donate a Bed” for the shelter of your choice.

Shelter hours:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 10am-4pm
Saturday and Sunday 12pm-4pm
Closed Wednesdays

Athenspets.net is updated with current pictures twice per week and updated status reports of each dog every other day or so. We keep it as current as we can, but there are times when you may see a dog featured here who may not still be available. Call Animal Control if you have questions about a dog.

We can really use:

Small wool blankets or thick fleece (less than 4’ x 6’ in size) (Best gift because dogs get wet and cold in winter and these are the only fabrics that keep them warm and dry)

Rawhides

Treats (eukanuba, beggin’ strips, not too many milkbones or bland treats)

Pull-tab canned dog food (small and large size)

Dry puppy food (small-bite)

Pig ears / Munchy sticks

Treats (eukanuba, beggin’ strips, not too many milkbones or bland treats)

Catnip, cat treats (Pounce, etc for our quarantine cats)

First-aid kits (gauze, band-aids, coflex, etc)(NO alcohol or peroxide)

Frontline spray, Capstar pills (to kill fleas)

Dog earwash and eyewash

Esbilac milk replacer (for puppies)

Occasional flannel sheets

Please, Do not donate the following:

NO comforters (they are too big for our wash machine)

NO bed sheets (they are too big and thin)

NO flimsy plastic toys (they are chewed through)

Please help us make our pups as comfortable as they can be during their stay at our shelter.
