 The image of cold dogs, lying on a hard, often wet cement floor paints a bleak picture of life in an animal shelter. This is not an official web site of Athens-Clarke County. It is, however, a website maintained by a few concerned citizens who want to do anything we can to give these dogs a fair chance at life! There are so many incredible dogs that come to this shelter just waiting for a human angel. The sad thing is, most of these dogs never meet that special person. Due to such a high overpopulation problem, dogs at shelters are only allotted a short amount of time before they are euthanized to make room for more. Everyone needs that special little companion. Please, when viewing these pictures, open up your mind and your heart, and let these little angels in!
