49810 – Walker
Why choose me?
When I first saw Walker, I saw a sad, confused older boy who couldn’t understand why he was here. He tilted his head, looked into my eyes, and that was all I needed to know that I wanted to get to know him better. As we walked by all the other dogs, he didn’t have any reaction, and just wanted to get to some place a little bit quieter.
Once we stepped into the interaction pen, he sniffed around while I took a seat, and made sure to make his marks, and then popped his front legs in my lap and gave me the biggest grin. He wanted to just be close to me, so for about two minutes straight, he sat there. I wanted to make this ol’ boy feel a little more comfortable and got out a few toys. At first, he wasn’t so interested, but when I pretended I was having a blast playing with one of the toys, he decided he wanted to join in.
He allowed me to take the toy from him several times, and was very playful and gentle. Walker has calloused areas on his legs that say he’s probably been a yard dog most of his life, but he sure does know what love and companionship are. He was engaged in what I was saying, toys I was playing with, and definitely wanted to be a part in it all!
Walker is very mellow, and I am certain he would enjoy a nice place to retire with softer sleeping arrangements than his previous home gave him. Why don’t you make plans to go see this sweet, older boy with the golden eyes today!
