47798 – Duquesa
Why choose me?
Duquesa is a beautiful, gentle girl. She had just been surrendered when I took her out for pictures, and while she was uncertain about this new place, she was as sweet as she could be. Wonderful on a leash, Duquesa walked quietly with me to an interaction pen. Although she spent some time looking out the gate like she was waiting for a familiar face, she’d still come when I called her and sit on command. After being in the sun for awhile, I led her to the shade of my umbrella where she sat beside me and put her head on my knee as I petted her. Duquesa is all sweetness. She watched Zoey and Nelson play along the fence but was content to stay with me. Her former owner said Duquesa is good with kids, cats, and other dogs (in fact, she’s the sister of Pinto and Ocho, two favorites who were both at the shelter last year). She was surrendered through no fault of her own; her family has to move out of the country and cannot take her with them. She’s already spayed but unfortunately has tested positive for heartworms. If you’re looking for a gentle companion, you’ll love Duquesa.
