47698 – Roman
Why choose me?
Update 9/5: Roman’s coat is coming back, and he looks great! A community group was volunteering this morning, and people kept stopping by our interaction pen to comment on how handsome Roman is. He’s also playful and had a great time chasing balls and playing with toys. Roman is good-natured and thrilled to be with you. After our playtime, we sat in the shade, and he put his front legs in my lap as I petted him. If he could have hopped in my lap, he would have. I don’t think Roman realizes how big and strong he is. He just wants to be loved and have fun!
Update 8/31: Thanks to donations to the Spay/Neuter Fund, Roman is now neutered and up-to-date on his basic vaccinations!
Roman was surrendered to the shelter after his owner moved in with family who didn’t have the space for a dog. Although Roman is temporarily down on his luck, you’d never know it to meet him. He’s a happy, friendly boy who enjoys meeting new people. He’s also an extremely handsome boy, although as you can see he has some temporary skin issues going on – demodex mange. A few weeks of treatment should bring back his beautiful blue coat though. Roman’s owner reported that he’s good with kids and small dogs of either sex. When we had him out in the interaction pen, he had a chance to meet Diamond through the chainlink fence and he was all happy tail wags (although she snubbed him in favor of treats and a squeaky toy), and he ran along the fence with Arthur in a friendly way. Roman was new and a little distracted with us, but never anything but a gentleman – a very nice quality in such a powerful dog! We look forward to spending more time with Roman!
