Why choose me?
Update 11/2: Kesha is kid-approved! She, Didi, Pete, and Big E visited Ms. Thompson’s 3rd grade class at Barrow Elementary and were a big hit. Afterwards, back at Animal Control, they enjoyed group playtime and had a blast. It was great seeing them with children and then playing and having fun together! (NOTE: While some of the dogs have playmates, shelter rules require that dogs only interact directly if a staff member is present.)

Update 10/27: Kesha’s buddy Barnaby was adopted, but she’s happy to be able to play with Big E! They can only play together if a staff member is present but, if things are quiet around the shelter while you are visiting, you can ask if it’s a good time for a play date!

Update 10/17: Kesha made a new friend today–Barnaby! She’s thrilled to have a buddy, and these two really hit it off. They can only play together if a staff member is present but, if things are quiet around the shelter while you are visiting, you can ask if it’s a good time for a play date!

Update 10/12: Kesha has completed her final month of recovery and is now available for adoption as well as rescue! She’s a happy, playful girl who’s ready for her forever home!

Update: Kesha has received her final two shots to treat her heartworms! She has another month of recovery before she will be generally available for adoption, but this happy girl is well on her way to being healthy!

Update 8/14: Kesha received her first immiticide shot to treat her heartworms on 8/14; she will receive two more in a month. She will only be available to rescues for the next two months while she recovers. Please wish this sweet girl well during her recovery!

Update 7/26: Thanks to donations to the Spay/Neuter Fund, Kesha has been spayed and brought up-to-date on her basic vaccinations!

Update 7/12: Unfortunately, Kesha has tested positive for heartworms.

Kesha has a note on her kennel sheet stating that she’s a little nervous being at the pound, but that’s no longer the case. She was thrilled to meet a new friend and happily wagging her tail. Kesha looks like she’s had her share of puppies, but that didn’t keep her from acting like one herself at times. She liked chasing a stuffed ball that I threw for her, and once she had it, she’d roll around with it wiggling and having fun. Kesha is a sweet girl. She was friendly to Magnolia at the fence and ate up all the attention I gave her. It’s time for Kesha to have a home where she can forget about keeping up with puppies and just be a puppy herself– getting lots of love and frolicking with toys!
