Why choose me?

Update 8/30/17: I stopped by to see Penelope this afternoon… the GOOD news is that she is getting moved to an interaction room, which will hopefully make her shelter experience more calming. The BAD news is that the cat shelter is currently FULL, and Penelope is at the top of the urgent list. Please share to show people how wonderful Miss P is, and consider adopting any cat to clear space for incoming cats that put the current kitty residents at risk. Penelope is URGENT, so if you’ve been considering her, now is the time to act!

Update 8/2/17: Did you see our beautiful Penelope on the cover of the August edition of the Classic City Paw Print? If you missed it, be sure to check it out here!

Update 7/19/17: Penelope’s awesome advocate had this to say about her: “It’s 11pm, I’ve literally been working on the August issue of Classic City Paw Print since I woke up this morning, and now that I’m sitting down to relax before bed, I CAN’T NOT POST about Penelope. She’s been on my mind all day since she’s my new advocate cat (and also the cover model for August!), but also because she’s a feisty girl with a mind of her own and really didn’t want a lot to do with me when I visited her on Monday. I’m planning to go back Friday, so maybe I’ll win her over a bit more then. It’s not surprising that she was more curious about the interaction room and looking outside–the shelter isn’t exactly a home environment where animals can be themselves. It’s a scary place, especially when your owner drops you off and you have no idea why or what’s going to happen to you (like Miss P). I’m looking forward to getting to know her more so I can be the best possible advocate to help her find a perfect home that will love her and let her be the #QueenB that she is!”

Update 7/4/17: Can you believe that Penelope is still here?! She’s been waiting for her FURever home since the end of April, but she’s been a very patient and friendly lady during all of that time. She recently had a photo shoot of her own and you can get a much better sense of her true personality and her playfulness. But best of all is to come meet her in person, so why don’t you tomorrow when we re-open after the 4th of July!

Thanks to donations to the Spay/Neuter Fund, Penelope is now spayed and up-to-date on her basic vaccinations!

Meet Penelope – whether you want to or not! If you think that cats are all the same, without each having his/her own individual personality… boy, are you in for a surprise! Penelope will change your mind, for sure. Yep, she’s an incredibly outgoing, and outspoken kitty, who is undoubtedly akin to the human “Type A” personality. When you meet her, you’ll notice right away that she’s a talker. She lets you know what she thinks! She likes being petted around her face, and enjoys treats and toys.

Part of Penelope’s unique “purrsonality”, is that she does not like other cats. But the great thing is that she loves humans! She’s a happy girl while you pet her, but if she suddenly realizes that there are other cats nearby, she may just have a bit of a hissy fit. She knows what she likes and what she dislikes, and that is ok! Penelope will definitely thrive as an only cat in your home.
